My data sharing consent expired — how do I renew it?
What to do when your consent has expired or been revoked and you want to keep sharing.
Data sharing permissions don't last forever — that's a privacy protection built into Australia's Consumer Data Right (CDR). Every consent has an end date, and when it's reached, sharing stops automatically. If you got a notice that your consent has expired or been revoked, here's how to get things running again.
If the app offers renewal
Some apps let you renew your consent before it expires:
- Open the app or service you originally connected your account with.
- Look for a prompt or setting to renew or extend data sharing.
- Follow the steps — it will feel just like when you first connected, using your bank's own secure login and a one-time code.
Renewal isn't available in the Consumer Dashboard — it always starts from the app itself.
If the consent has already expired
An expired consent can't be renewed. Instead, you create a fresh one:
- Go back to the app or service you were using.
- Find the option to connect or reconnect your bank or energy account.
- Complete the connection steps again.
Check your consents anytime
You can see all your past and current consents, and their status, in the Consumer Dashboard. If you don't see the service listed, just reconnect through that service's app or website.
If something goes wrong
- Try clearing your browser's cache, or use a different browser or device.
- Make sure you follow every prompt and approve the permissions asked for during the connection.
- Remember: you'll log in through your bank's own secure login with a one-time code — Fiskil never asks for your bank password.
