Why did I get a data sharing receipt email?

What a data sharing receipt means, and why it's a good sign — not a bill.

Got an email called a "data sharing receipt" and not sure what it is? Don't worry — it's not a bill, and no money has been taken.

What the receipt is

A data sharing receipt is a record confirming that you gave permission for your bank or energy data to be shared with an app or service. It's required under the Australian Government's Consumer Data Right (CDR), so you always have a written record of what you agreed to.

The receipt shows:

  • Who you agreed to share data with (the app or service).
  • When you gave permission.
  • When the sharing will end.

Why you received it

At some point you connected your bank or energy account to an app — for example, to apply for a loan or verify your income. That app uses Fiskil, an accredited and regulated provider under the CDR, to make the connection securely. The receipt is your confirmation.

Will money be taken from my account?

No. A data sharing consent only lets the app see the specific data you agreed to, like your balance or transaction history. It can't be used to take money, set up direct debits, or make payments. Any payment arrangement you have is a separate agreement with the service itself.

Questions about a bill or payment plan?

Contact the app or service you signed up with directly — billing is between you and them. Fiskil only handles the secure data sharing.

Didn't expect this receipt?

If you don't remember connecting an account, or something feels off, you can stop the sharing right away:

  1. Sign in to the Consumer Dashboard.
  2. Find the consent named in the receipt.
  3. Revoke it — see How do I stop sharing my data?
