Share AGL business accounts

How a business sets up a nominated representative at AGL and shares its energy accounts through your product.

Before you start

This guide applies to business customers with energy accounts held by a company, trust, or partnership at AGL. Like banks, energy retailers require a CDR nominated representative before business accounts can be shared — but retailers publish far less about their processes, and they change without notice.

Appoint a nominated representative

AGL doesn't publish detailed self-service steps for business appointments, so we can't give a verified click-path. In practice, energy retailer appointments typically work like this:

  1. An authorised person on the account (an account holder or existing authorised contact) calls AGL's business support line.
  2. They authenticate verbally and ask to appoint a CDR nominated representative for data sharing on the business account.
  3. AGL records the appointment; the nominated person can then share the account's data.

Expect phone wait times, and have the business confirm the appointment is active before attempting the consent flow. For AGL's current process, search "AGL Consumer Data Right nominated representative" or check the Consumer Data Right section of agl.com.au.

Then share the accounts

Once appointed, the nominated representative starts the consent flow in your product, selects AGL, authenticates, and approves sharing for the business's accounts.

If it doesn't work

  • No business accounts in the consent flow — the appointment likely isn't recorded yet, or the person authenticating isn't the nominated representative.
  • AGL staff are unfamiliar with the request — asking specifically for "Consumer Data Right data sharing for a business account" usually reaches the right team.

For anything else, the business should contact AGL's business customer support directly.
