Share Commonwealth Bank business accounts
How a business appoints a data sharing delegate at Commonwealth Bank (CBA) and shares its accounts through your product.
Before you start
This guide applies to business customers who hold accounts with Commonwealth Bank (CBA) and bank through NetBank. CommBank calls the nominated representative a data sharing delegate, and at least one delegate must be appointed before business accounts can be shared. Businesses that bank through CommBiz follow a separate CommBank process.
Appoint a nominated representative
If the delegate is a director or existing business authority, the appointment can be done in NetBank:
- Log in to NetBank.
- Go to Settings and select Manage data sharing.
- Select Setting up data sharing delegates.
- Choose the business profile.
- Select Add delegate and nominate the director or business authority.
If the business wants to appoint someone who is not a director or existing authority, CommBank requires a data sharing delegate form instead: download it from CommBank's website, have all account owners approve and sign it, and lodge it at a CommBank branch.
CommBank doesn't publish a standard processing time for the form route, so allow a few business days.
Then share the accounts
Once the delegate is in place, they start the consent flow in your product, select CommBank, authenticate with their own NetBank credentials, and approve sharing for the business's accounts.
If it doesn't work
- No business accounts in the consent flow — confirm a delegate has actually been appointed and that the person authenticating is that delegate.
- The Manage data sharing option is missing — the logged-in user may not have authority over the business profile; a director or account owner should log in instead.
- The business banks through CommBiz — the NetBank steps above don't apply; the business should follow CommBank's CommBiz data sharing process.
For anything else, the business should contact CommBank or see CommBank's open banking help at commbank.com.au.
