Share Westpac business accounts
How a business enables data sharing and appoints a nominated representative in Westpac Online Banking.
Before you start
This guide applies to business customers who hold accounts with Westpac and use Westpac Online Banking for business. The setup is done by the Administrator of the business's online banking facility, using a desktop browser — the steps below aren't available in the mobile app.
Appoint a nominated representative
Westpac's process has two parts, both in Online Banking on desktop.
First, enable data sharing for the business:
- Log in to Westpac Online Banking.
- Open the Administration menu and go to Features and Approvals.
- Scroll down and tick Enable data sharing.
- Save the change.
Then give a user data sharing authority:
- In the Administration menu, go to User administration.
- Select the user who will share data.
- Scroll to the Open Banking data sharing section and tick Manage data sharing.
- Save.
That user is now the business's nominated representative. Because the process is fully online, it usually takes effect straight away.
Then share the accounts
The nominated representative starts the consent flow in your product, selects Westpac, authenticates with their own credentials, and approves sharing for the business's accounts.
If it doesn't work
- No business accounts in the consent flow — check both steps were completed: data sharing enabled at the business level and "Manage data sharing" ticked for the specific user.
- The Administration options are missing — the logged-in user isn't an Administrator; an Administrator needs to do the setup.
- Using the mobile app — switch to a desktop browser; the settings aren't exposed in-app.
For anything else, the business should contact Westpac business banking support or see Westpac's open banking help pages.
